Layer palletising machines are high-speed, conventional systems designed specifically for stacking uniform products like cases, trays, and shrink-wrapped bundles. Operating by building one complete product layer at a time before placing it, they are built for exceptionally high-output, reliable, and continuous production.
These machines are the essential, high-throughput solution for the beverage, food, and high-volume consumer goods industries. They are used to automatically create extremely stable, square, and dense pallet loads of products, handling a continuous flow from one or more high-speed production lines.
By integrating precise product collation with a robust layer-handling mechanism, these machines provide an incredibly efficient and reliable way to automate end-of-line processes, perfectly suited for dedicated, 24/7 manufacturing lines.
Layer palletisers are the definitive solution for dedicated, high-speed lines, offering unmatched throughput, load stability, and operational simplicity.
Exceptional High-Speed Throughput This is the core purpose. Because they form an entire layer and transfer it in one single movement (rather than case-by-case), layer palletisers can achieve exceptionally high speeds. They are ideal for dedicated, high-volume lines (like canning or bottling) where they easily outpace other forms of automation.
Superior Load Stability & Squareness These machines build a geometrically perfect, tight, and square pallet every time. The layer is formed and “squared-up” on a table before being placed, ensuring all products are perfectly aligned. This creates highly stable, dense loads ideal for high-stack warehousing and automated storage (AS/RS).
Robust Simplicity & Reliability Layer palletisers are mechanically robust and often simpler to operate and maintain than complex robotic systems. Their straightforward, proven design makes them a highly reliable workhorse for continuous, 24/7 operations where uptime and consistency are critical.

Products (cases, trays) arrive on a high-speed conveyor. They are automatically metered, oriented, and turned as required before being grouped into pre-programmed rows, which form the building blocks of the complete layer.
The "heart" of the machine. The formed rows are pushed onto a transfer table (or "apron"). This table is often equipped with pneumatic or servo-driven "squaring" bars on all sides that gently compress the completed layer to ensure it is perfectly tight and aligned.
Once the layer is formed, it is transferred onto the pallet. This is typically done using a "stripper plate" system (the apron retracts, leaving the layer behind) or a "split apron" (the two halves of the table open, gently depositing the layer onto the pallet below).
The empty pallet is raised on a hoist (or lift) to meet the layer-forming table. After each layer is deposited, the hoist lowers the pallet by the precise height of the product, readying it for the next layer.
The system automatically feeds empty pallets from a stack (a pallet magazine) into the hoist. A slip sheet applicator is often integrated to automatically place a sheet on the empty pallet (for stability) or between layers (for tie sheets).

The machine builds an entire layer of product on a table, squares it up, and then transfers the whole layer onto the pallet.
It provides a very low-cost, strong collation that replaces the need for heavy cardboard boxes.
Available as semi-auto (manual push) or fully automatic (integrated infeed conveyor and pusher).
Typically uses thick Polyethylene (PE) film for maximum transit strength.
Yes, it is the standard method for wrapping products that have been pre-loaded onto cardboard trays.
