Case Packer Machines

Case packing machines are a vital part of end-of-line automation, designed to handle the secondary packaging of your products. They automatically collate, group, and load primary packs—such as flow-wrapped items, bags, bottles, or cartons—into a larger shipping case, tray, or RSC (Regular Slotted Case).

From simple top-load ‘pick and place’ systems to high-speed, side-load or wraparound models, these machines are engineered to replace manual, labour-intensive packing. They are the essential final step in preparing your goods for palletising, storage, and distribution, ensuring your entire line can run efficiently without bottlenecks.

Trusted by leading brands

“American case packer” is the industry term for a machine that automates packing into Regular Slotted Cases (RSC), also known as “American” cases. These are the most common style of pre-glued, flat-packed boxes used for shipping.

These machines are a cornerstone of end-of-line automation, handling the complete process. A machine will automatically pick a flat case from a magazine, erect it (open and square it), seal the bottom flaps, and present the open case for filling.

After the product is loaded (either automatically or manually), the machine then closes and seals the top flaps, discharging a finished, transport-ready case. They are the most common and versatile solution for automating secondary packaging.

Wrap around case packing machines offer a highly efficient, all-in-one solution for secondary packaging. Unlike traditional case packers that load products into a pre-erected case, a wrap around machine takes a flat, die-cut cardboard blank and forms it tightly around a pre-collated group of products.

This method forms, loads, and seals the case in one continuous, compact operation. By creating a very tight, perfectly ‘square’ case, this technology is ideal for high-speed lines and for producing retail-ready packaging (RRP) with high-quality graphics and perforations.

Why choose Case Packer machines

Automating your case packing is the key to unlocking end-of-line efficiency, reducing operational costs, and ensuring your products are ready for the supply chain.

  • Massively Reduce Labour Costs This technology automates one of the most repetitive, manual, and costly processes on a production line. It allows you to reallocate staff from the repetitive task of packing boxes to higher-value roles, delivering a rapid return on investment and reducing the risk of repetitive strain injuries.
  • Increase & Guarantee Throughput A case packer can operate 24/7 at a consistent, high speed, ensuring your end-of-line packing can always keep pace with your primary production. It eliminates the bottlenecks, stops, and inconsistencies associated with manual packing.
  • Improve Pack Quality & Consistency Every case is packed with the correct product count, in the correct orientation, every single time. This eliminates human error, reduces product damage, and creates neat, uniformly packed cases that are more stable for palletising, storage, and transport.

Multiple Loading Methods

Machines are available in various configurations to suit your product: Top-Load (via robotic or gantry pick-and-place) is ideal for flexible bags and pouches; Side-Load is perfect for rigid cartons and boxes; and Wraparound forms the case around the product collation for a tight, retail-ready pack.

Integrated Case Erecting & Sealing

The system automatically picks a flat, blank case from a magazine, squares it, and seals the bottom flaps with tape or hot-melt glue. After loading, the top flaps are automatically closed and sealed, presenting a fully finished, transport-ready case.

Automatic Product Infeed & Collation

A smart infeed system uses sensors, stackers, and conveyors to receive the flow of product from your line. It then automatically collates, stacks, or arranges the items into the precise pattern (e.g., 2x3x2) required to fill the case.

Quick, Repeatable Changeovers

A user-friendly HMI allows you to store pre-programmed recipes for different products and case sizes. Changeovers are streamlined with digital readouts, quick-release handles, and colour-coded adjustment points, minimising downtime between production runs.

Robust, Open-Access Construction

Built with heavy-duty frames for 24/7 operation, these machines feature transparent safety guarding and an open-access design. This provides excellent visibility and allows for easy access for cleaning, maintenance, and refilling the case magazine.
